DEL Project 20K FAQs
How do I know if my application has been selected for screening?
Candidates are contacted via WhatsApp and/or email as each batch is processed. If you have not received communication from Spaan yet, your application may still be awaiting processing or may be included in a future batch.
Receiving no communication at this stage does not mean that your application has been unsuccessful.
What are the next steps after screening and verification?
Spaan’s role in the DEL Project 20K is to conduct the required screening and verification checks.
Shortlisting, qualification requirements, candidate selection, appointments and placements are determined by the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL) according to its own requirements and processes.
Spaan does not determine the shortlisting criteria or final selection of candidates and does not have visibility of the Department’s internal selection process.
When is the next screening batch?
There is currently no confirmed date for the next screening batch.
Spaan can only begin processing a new batch once the relevant candidate list has been provided by the Department of Employment and Labour (DEL).
Once a new batch is received and activated for screening, candidates included in that batch will be contacted via WhatsApp and/or email.
How long do the verification checks take?
Verification turnaround times vary depending on the verification type and the external institution or database involved.
The screening process may include checks with external entities such as the Department of Home Affairs, the relevant education authorities, and higher education institutions, as well as criminal record databases.
These organisations operate according to their own processing times, and Spaan cannot guarantee the turnaround time for individual verification.
Once all required verification results have been received and the candidate’s screening profile is complete, Spaan will finalise the screening process and submit the completed profile to DEL in accordance with the project process.
What happens after my completed profile has been submitted to DEL?
Once a candidate’s screening profile has been completed and submitted, the profile moves into the Department of Employment and Labour’s process.
Spaan is the verification and screening partner for the project. Spaan does not make the final selection decision, determine who is shortlisted, or manage candidate appointments and placements.
Questions about shortlisting, placement or appointment decisions must be handled through the Department of Employment and Labour’s processes.
